“Success in the business requires a successful intellectual property strategy and vice-versa.”

Dave supports worldwide clients from his office in Maine.

Dave advises clients and executes strategies for protecting a variety of electrical and computer-related technologies.

Dave earned his bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Maine and his master's degree in electrical and computer engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. After several years in software development for the electric power industry, Dave joined the USPTO examining inventions in operations research and automation, modeling, and controls, including renewable energy, grid control, and storage technologies.

Dave subsequently earned his law degree from the Maine School of Law cum laude while helping to build and expand a regional law firm's patent law group. Dave prosecuted patents for small- to medium-sized startup companies and independent inventors. Dave also supported patent litigation, including inter partes reviews (IPRs) and defending assertions of standards-essential patents (SEPs).

Dave's additional work in technology transfer for a major research university, combined with the mix of software development, patent examining, prosecution and litigation experience provides clients with a unique perspective on patent strategy in a variety of circumstances.
